This japanese vintage Hanten 半纏 Kimono comes from an old company called “Noguchi and Co”. Hanten is a kind of kimono worn by shop keepers or workers uniform.
During the Edo period (1600-1868), Happis were only allowed by the superior social class "Buke"(Samuraï family) with the family crest on the back so in response the lower class (farmers, manufacturers, merchants,etc,..) created their own Hanten kimonos with their original symbols. Nowadays there is not really a clear distinction between Happi and Hanten.
